I purchased this skirt in December from New York and Company to wear over the Holiday season.  I love the matte sequins and chevron design of this skirt!  I wanted to make it more versatile to wear during other seasons.  Denim is the most versatile trend out there and my denim shirt has easily become the most rotated shirt in my wardrobe.  I wear my denim shirt with colored denim, leggings (print and solid - last seen HERE), shorts (last seen HERE), and now, sequins skirts.   I promise you this is not the only shirt I own...

I digress..... The dark colors together made this look too drab.  I brightened it up with a red blazer and a floral design necklace.  Another year-round trend?  Boots!  These short booties have a buckle on the side and cut-out detail which makes them easier to wear on warmer days.

Demin + Lace at the Opry

 

The only time that I am organized is when it comes to packing!  I keep a detailed document on my phone with outfits I want to wear for upcoming trips.  It’s pretty aggressive, I know.  I mean, these notes start as soon as I know I’m booking a trip.  So, the first items that came to mind when I received an invitation to a wedding in Nashville were – COWGIRL BOOTS

I picked up these boots on the clearance rack at DSW.  My favorite part? THE HEEL.  I know that isn’t the purpose of having cowgirl boots, but I’m pretending to be a country girl, so these are perfect for me! I thought boots were a smart and versatile choice for Nashville.  Wrong!  Only tourists wear boots around the town!

I’d been to Nashville once before, but it was my boyfriend’s first time.  We each got to pick one attraction to see: He chose Gruhn’s Guitar and I chose the Grand Ol’ Opry!  I scheduled our tour for Friday, the day we arrived.  I definitely recommend this tour to everyone!  So much history at the opry.  They take you through the dressing rooms and let you poke around – “That green chair you’re sitting on?  Johnny Cash used to sit there playing his guitar.”  My favorite show, Nashville, on ABC has a display at the Opry.  I freaked out when I saw it.  I was the only person on the tour that watched the show!  Bummer.

The last leg of the tour, the guide takes you to the stage.  In the center of the stage is a photo op.  Once everyone had their photos taken, the most amazing thing happened!  The tour guide asked if any of us could sing.  Without skipping a beat, my boyfriend pointed at me and yelled, “SHE CAN!”  The mics were off and there wasn’t anyone else in the Opry, but I stood front and center and belted out the first verse of the song my boyfriend and I wrote together – video last posted HERE.  It all happened pretty quickly, but I’m honored to stand on that stage and sing where so many legends have been before!

Southern Charm Meets Vintage Elegance

I was recently in Nashville for a wedding.  Not just any wedding – a wedding that most girl’s dream about! Picture something like an Instagram inspired, Pinterest perfect, wedding bell bliss! I mean it, get ready to take notes!!

 

 Friday night, my boyfriend and I attended the Rehearsal dinner.  From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with unlimited Tennessee Tea’s!  Later on, the dinner they served was your typical Southern feast – fried chicken, mashed potatoes, collard greens, corn pudding...... Ahh, I think I gained 10 pounds just thinking about it!

 

Saturday night were the nuptials., but let's fast forward to the reception!  The reception took place at this beautiful plantation house - In that moment, I knew what it was like to pretend to be Melanie Carmichael (Only in Nashville, not Alabama).  Okay, just a few of my favorite things from the night: 1. a stack of antique luggage and decorations where we found our names and setting arrangements. 2. A romantic scene off to the corner with a blanket, pillow, flowers, wine, a Just Married sign and a chalkboard that said, Reserved for Shannon and Scott.  3.  A basket filled with blankets and sign that read Borrow A Blanket And Snuggle (Clearly I am a rebel since I kept mine...) 4. An abandoned black barn with chandeliers and a wall of mirrors.  5. A shelf filled with old family wedding pictures (must file this idea away and use at my wedding) and 6. Maxi dresses for Spring!

 

 

I first laid eyes on this maxi via Pinterest!  Is it just me or does every girl wish she could turn their fashion Pinterest board into their actual closet?  I was determined to have this dress – two of my favorite things: Maxi dresses and chevron print!  This dress was kind of made for me…..and every other girl, for that matter!  It was SOLD OUT!  After performing several google searches, I finally found an online boutique that was restocking the black/mint chevron dress in just a week!  I set my calendar alarm so I would be prepared to purchase! I think that started the growth of my online shopping addiction…

 

Moving on.... This coral teardrop necklace (also an online purchase *ahem*) is a great pop of color with the maxi dress.  Coral and mint might be my favorite color combo.  Add this cropped jean jacket and black flops and I had the perfect sprint outfit!  My jean jacket is at least eight years old. I worked at American Eagle in high school and still have more than half of the clothes I bought back then.  I am a clothes hoarder – can’t even part with things I don’t wear.  Good thing jean jackets are back!
