Nautcal Stripes and catamaran Tours

I just took a week vacation with my boyfriend’s family.  We vacationed in Martha’s Vineyard, an island of Massachusetts. I couldn’t wait to dunk myself in the salt water and taste fresh lobster!

I tend to be ambitious when it comes to packing my suitcase.  We’re talking excel spreadsheets – months in advance!  My boyfriend attempted to burst my bubble, requesting that I consciously pack my outfits, because we were driving a full car to the vineyard.  Mr. V. actually challenged me to one outfit per day (Challenge not accepted, by the way)! I had been busy, planning outfits and scouting Pinterest for outfit inspiration ever since I was invited.  Nautical stripes, beach hats, and maxi’s were on the top of my list!  I picked out 3 fedoras and one floppy hat to wear, then I forgot them entirely on the floor of my apartment.  Operation Find A Fedora was in full effect once on the road – scouring gas stations and gift shops for the first and cheapest fedora I could find.

I had a great time on the family vacation and am extremely thankful for the invitation.  Exploring Martha’s Vineyard was beautiful, and relaxing on the beach was so peaceful.  Speaking of exploring, my boyfriend and I scheduled activities for the two of us – planning shopping outings, ice cream trips, and a catamaran tour – sailing on the Mad Max!

The Mad Max is where all three of my top items came into play!  Sailing from 6:15-8:15pm was going to be chilly and windy. The easiest way to stay warm on a cool summer’s night is to throw on a maxi dress.  I paired it with a distressed denim jacket, a red bauble necklace, and my new fedora

We made friends with the couple next to us – who also happen to be from Ohio and have a few friends in common with us.  It’s small world, after all.

"Man Repelling" Outfit for Girls Night!

Amber made me a Hello Kitty bracelet!

A group of 4 friends and I met up on Friday night in Cincinnati.  A road trip with friends doesn't happen too often now that we're in our mid 20's.  Not to mention that three of the girls are engaged and one is expecting her first baby.  We all have our own lives, so it's nice when we make time for a night out with the girls - no boys!!

Since one of my best friends moved to Cinci, I enjoy any time that I get to spend with her.  But, a night away from the boo-thing and a night out with the girls means I over think what to wear.  I wanted something girly, something feminine, something "man repelling" but still had to look fashionable in front of my friends (can't grab drinks in yoga pants - or can you?!).  One glance at this maxi dress from Target and I knew it was a no brainer!  I loved the way it mixed patterns so I could effortlessly put this outfit together. I felt conservative, although, there was a space in the back that showed a midriff. People thought it was two separates pieces!

Being that it was Friday, the 13th and we were in Newport, we were not disappointed in the entertainment of other bar hoppers.  From the unknown girl booty popping on us to the blonde with cornrows, thanks for coming out!  To the UC student who told us that we "probably wake  up at 5am and eat a 'senior breakfast'", I hope you don't kiss your mother with that mouth!

Our entire night reminded me of Jenna Marbles' "How to Avoid Talking to People You Don't Want To Talk to" skit - "Can't you see? We're having a girls night!"

Open Mic Night - Round 2

(Dan Mitchell Photography)

We played at an open mic – our second show.  At the first one, we didn’t tell anybody about it except for our close friends who are really into music. We felt pretty confident after that performance so we’re more comfortable inviting all of our friends (soo, you guys should come!!! We play Wednesday's at various locations).

Our regular fans - the friends/family who came to our last show - were busy and couldn’t attend this time.   I was worried nobody would be there to take pics - obviously, a very crucial point for an aspiring blogger!  L As a surprise, two of my besties, Amber and Lydia, showed up to support us – Amber drove from Cincinnati and surprised me to tears!  I was extremely happy that they were there (and could record some audio for us- except for the unfortunate event that I was sitting directly under the spotlight which completely washed me out).

The bar was a Rock N Roll theme so I wore the only band shirt I own – Red Hot Chili Peppers.  I paired it with my leather leggings and a black blazer.  I added my silver pumps and silver necklace for some color.  The weather was nasty and raining so up in a bun went my hair.
